LAGOS, Nigeria (NPA) — The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has reported a lone accident involving an LT T4 commercial bus loaded with bottled water at the descent of Alaka Bridge, inward Ijora 7UP.

LASTMA officials promptly arrived at the scene and placed safety cones around the affected vehicle to prevent secondary accidents and ensure the safety of other road users.

A tow truck was subsequently contacted for the immediate evacuation of the commercial bus, while recovery operations continued at the scene.

Meanwhile, traffic was diverted through Ijora Olopa to maintain the free flow of vehicles and reduce congestion around the accident scene.

In a video published alongside its statement, LASTMA confirmed that no casualties were recorded in the incident.

The agency said recovery operations were ongoing and advised motorists to exercise caution and comply with traffic diversion arrangements in the area.

Road safety experts have continued to identify poor vehicle maintenance, reckless driving, road rage and the use of unroadworthy vehicles as some of the major causes of frequent road accidents in Lagos.

The incident again highlights the importance of regular vehicle maintenance and responsible driving, particularly for commercial vehicles operating on Lagos’ busy roads.
