BREAKING: One killed in Surulere road crash as LASTMA battles traffic gridlock

LAGOS, Nigeria (NPA) — The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has reported a fatal multiple-vehicle accident along the Iponri inward Alaka corridor in the Surulere area of Lagos.
According to the agency’s Saturday evening traffic update, the crash involved a commercial bus and a Toyota Corolla, leaving one person dead at the scene.
LASTMA said emergency responders had commenced efforts to evacuate injured victims and clear the wreckage from the roadway to restore normal traffic flow.
The agency added that its personnel were actively managing traffic in the area, where a significant backlog had extended to the Iponri Total Petrol Station.
As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the accident had not been determined.
Authorities are expected to provide further details as investigations continue.
