LASG to close Eko Bridge for safety investigations and repairs

LAGOS, Nigeria (NPA) — The Lagos State Government has announced the temporary closure of Eko Bridge (outbound to Lagos Island) to allow for safety investigations and essential repairs. The closure will take effect from Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
According to the statement, the affected section lies between Apongbon and Ijora Olopa, and motorists are advised to use the Third Mainland Bridge as an alternative route to reach their destinations.
The inbound carriageway to Lagos Island will remain open to traffic throughout the repair period.
Authorities assured that adequate traffic and security personnel will be deployed along designated alternative routes to guide motorists and maintain smooth vehicular movement.
The government reiterated its commitment to public safety and infrastructure integrity, urging residents to cooperate with traffic officials and exercise patience during the repair works.
