Katsina Police arrest suspect over motorcycle theft, nab another for attempted bribery

KATSINA, Nigeria (NPA) — The Katsina State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Ali Umar Fage, has announced the arrest of two suspects in connection with motorcycle theft and attempted bribery.
According to a statement issued on April 26, 2026, by DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, Police Public Relations Officer, operatives attached to the Anti‑Kauraye unit apprehended Abdulra’uf Salisu, alias Dukiya, 27, for conspiring with an accomplice, identified as Abba (currently at large), to steal a motorcycle belonging to Isma’il Ibrahim.
The stolen motorcycle and a master key suspected to have been used in the crime were recovered while efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing accomplice.
In a related development, Mustapha Nasiru, 45, was arrested for attempting to bribe investigators with ₦243,000 to secure the release of the theft suspect. The bribe was rejected, documented as an exhibit, and Nasiru is now in custody. He will be charged in court for offering a bribe to public officers, contrary to Section 118 of the Penal Code Law.
Commissioner of Police Ali Umar Fage commended the investigating team for their professionalism and integrity, reiterating the Command’s zero tolerance for crime and corruption. He warned that anyone attempting to obstruct justice would face the full weight of the law.
The Command urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to aid police operations. Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged to court upon completion.
