Yobe police, NSCDC pledge stronger security collaboration

DAMATURU, Nigeria (NPA) — The Yobe State Police Command and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration to enhance security and combat crime across the state.

The renewed commitment was made on Tuesday when the newly deployed Yobe State Commandant of the NSCDC, CC Hassan Owuna, paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, CP Usman Kanfani Jibrin, at the Police Command Headquarters in Damaturu.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the visit underscored the resolve of both security agencies to deepen cooperation through intelligence sharing, joint operations and coordinated security strategies.

Speaking during the visit, Commandant Owuna expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded him by the Police Command and pledged to build on the existing partnership between the NSCDC and the Nigeria Police Force in Yobe State.

He stressed the importance of sustained collaboration, intelligence sharing and operational synergy among security agencies to effectively tackle emerging security threats and improve public safety.

Responding, Commissioner of Police Usman Kanfani Jibrin congratulated the new NSCDC Commandant on his posting and welcomed him to Yobe State.

The police commissioner noted that the prevailing peace and stability in the state could only be sustained through mutual trust, effective collaboration and coordinated efforts among all security agencies.

He reaffirmed the Police Command’s commitment to strengthening inter-agency cooperation through intelligence-led policing, joint security operations, capacity building and other collaborative initiatives aimed at preventing and combating crime.

Jibrin said the partnership would also focus on protecting critical national assets and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.

He further appealed to residents of Yobe State to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely, credible and actionable information, stressing that effective security remains a collective responsibility.

The police commissioner assured that the command would continue working closely with sister security agencies to sustain the peaceful atmosphere currently enjoyed in the state.
