KANO, Nigeria (NPA) — The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has directed officers and men of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and area commands across the state to uphold integrity, professionalism and the rule of law in the discharge of their duties.

Bakori issued the directive during separate engagements with officers and personnel of Metro, Dala, Kano Central, Hotoro, Tarauni and Eastern Bypass Area Commands.

The police commissioner stressed that the command would maintain zero tolerance for corruption, illegal arrests, arbitrary detention and other forms of misconduct that undermine public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.

He particularly condemned the abuse of police processes by influential individuals who use security agencies to intimidate or oppress vulnerable members of society.

According to him, investigations must be conducted professionally and in strict compliance with the law, while the rights of all citizens must be respected at all times.

Bakori reiterated the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Tujni Disu, for professional, intelligence-led and community-oriented policing anchored on accountability, service delivery and respect for human rights.

He urged officers to respond promptly to distress calls, embrace visible policing and strengthen engagement with communities to improve public trust and security outcomes.

The commissioner also called on personnel to remain disciplined, accountable and committed to delivering quality policing services to residents of the state.

He noted that public confidence in the police can only be sustained through professionalism, fairness and adherence to established policing procedures.

Bakori further encouraged officers to see themselves as public servants whose primary responsibility is the protection of lives, property and the rights of all citizens.

The engagements form part of ongoing efforts by the Kano State Police Command to reinforce ethical conduct, operational efficiency and people-centred policing across the state and the implementation of the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Ridwan Disu’s policy of professionalism, discipline, respect for human rights, and intelligence-driven policing.
