ABUJA, Nigeria (NPA) — The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has warned members of the public against a fraudulent recruitment notice purportedly advertising employment opportunities within the Service.

The Service said its attention had been drawn to a notice titled “Federal Inland Revenue Service – FIRS Job Vacancy – Replacement of Corruptly Employed Staff and Need and Offer Platform,” which asks applicants to submit their information through the email address recruitplacementnrs@gmail.com.

In a statement signed by its Management on Monday, October 5, 2026, the NRS said the notice was fraudulent and did not emanate from the Service.

The Service reminded the public that the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has been succeeded by the Nigeria Revenue Service. It therefore advised that any purported recruitment notice issued in the name of FIRS should be treated with caution and independently verified.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the NRS has not authorised or commenced the recruitment exercise referenced in the notice and has not appointed or authorised any individual, agent, consultant or third party to conduct any recruitment exercise on its behalf,” the statement said.

The NRS urged members of the public to disregard the notice and exercise caution when responding to recruitment advertisements, messages, links or other communications purportedly originating from the Service.

It also advised the public not to make any payment, disclose personal or financial information, or submit certificates, identification documents or other documents in response to the purported recruitment exercise.

According to the Service, any legitimate recruitment exercise undertaken by the NRS will be formally communicated through its official website and authorised communication channels.

The NRS encouraged members of the public to verify recruitment-related information through those channels before taking any action.

It also urged members of the public to report suspicious recruitment communications to the appropriate authorities.
