ABUJA, Nigeria (NPA) — Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, has presented the official results of the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election to President Bola Tinubu in Abuja following his emergence as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 election.

Hamzat, who was accompanied by his wife, Dr Oluremi Hamzat, visited the President in his capacity as the national leader of the APC.

Speaking after the visit, the deputy governor expressed gratitude to party members and supporters for the confidence reposed in him.

“I remain deeply grateful for the trust placed in me. Securing the party’s nomination for the 2027 governorship election is both an honour and a profound responsibility,” he said.

Hamzat stated that his aspiration is anchored on ensuring Lagos remains a state where families can thrive, businesses can grow, and young people can access meaningful opportunities.

“The energy and trust you have placed in this vision mean everything to us. The journey ahead is about turning that shared hope into meaningful progress for everyone,” he added.

Unlike several states where candidates emerged unopposed, Hamzat faced competition in the Lagos APC governorship primary and secured a landslide victory with 657,917 votes.

His only challenger, Olanrewaju Jim Kamal, reportedly polled one vote in the exercise.
