    CAIRO, Egypt (NPA) — President of the Confédération Africaine de Football, Dr Patrice Motsepe, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former Nigeria international, Michael Eneramo.

    In a statement issued on Saturday, Dr Motsepe, on behalf of CAF and its 54 Member Associations, extended heartfelt condolences to the Nigeria Football Federation, its President, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, the family of the deceased, and the people of Nigeria.

    Eneramo, who earned international recognition during his career, featured for clubs including Lobi Stars, Espérance Sportive de Tunis, and Beşiktaş J.K.

    CAF described his death as a significant loss to African football and honoured his contributions to the game across the continent.

    “May his soul rest in peace,” the statement concluded.

    PRETORIA, South Africa (NPA) — President Cyril Ramaphosa has extended heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and associates of Achmat Naeem Jappie, former Judge President of KwaZulu‑Natal, who has died at the age of 70.

    Ramaphosa described Justice Jappie as a distinguished jurist and a longstanding champion of justice whose contributions enriched South African jurisprudence and strengthened the administration of the courts.

    The President noted that Jappie’s service extended beyond the bench, including his work on tribunals addressing judicial conduct and other national assignments. “During his 28 years as a judge, Justice Jappie entrenched the rule of law, ensured that the law protected the interests and dignity of those who deserved relief, and that those who breached the law felt the consequences of their actions or attitudes,” Ramaphosa said.

    He added that the nation deeply appreciates Jappie’s dedication to justice and his legacy of fairness and integrity. Concluding his tribute, the President prayed: “May Allah have mercy on him.”

    Justice Jappie’s passing has been described as a profound loss to South Africa’s legal community and the nation at large, marking the end of a career defined by service, principle, and commitment to the rule of law.

    ABUJA, Nigeria (NPA) — Vice President Kashim Shettima has extolled the legacy of the late Sir Israel Chinwuba Ogbue, father-in-law of Chairman of Heirs Holdings and United Bank for Africa (UBA) Group, Tony Elumelu, describing him as a man who lived a fulfilled life and instilled enduring values in his children.

    Shettima said the late Ogbue was the only surviving child of his parents, a circumstance he noted reflected uncommon strength and resilience.

    According to him, to bear such a burden and still live with gratitude and grace underscores a deep understanding of life.

    The Vice President, who led the Federal Government delegation, was among dignitaries who attended the funeral ceremony held on Saturday in Onicha-Olona community, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.

    He conveyed the condolences of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the immediate family of the deceased, the community, as well as the government and people of Delta State.

    “On behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I extend our condolences and our respect to the family, the people of Onicha-Olona, and the government and people of Delta State. We honour the life he lived and the example he set,” he said.

    Sir Israel Chinwuba Ogbue passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026.
