Operation Hadin Kai records multiple gains, rescues abductees, and disrupts terrorist networks

ABUJA, Nigeria (NPA) The Nigerian Army has announced a string of operational successes under Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), underscoring its sustained momentum in the North East Theatre against Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents.

Rescue Operations in Askira/Uba

On July 7, troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion rescued two abductees during ongoing Search and Rescue operations in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State. The victims were evacuated to safety and are receiving medical and psychosocial support.

In a statement issued by Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer, troops also recovered ₦1.2 million in cash, food items, and logistics suspected to be proceeds of terrorist activities.

ISWAP Attack Contained at FOB Logomani

In Ngala LGA, troops at Forward Operating Base Logomani successfully repelled a coordinated ISWAP assault. Although insurgents briefly breached a section of the defensive perimeter, soldiers regrouped and mounted a counter‑offensive that inflicted heavy casualties. One soldier was killed, while two gun trucks and combat enablers sustained damage. Reinforcements have since been deployed, with exploitation operations ongoing to strengthen the base’s resilience.

Arrests and Recoveries

Troops of 232 Battalion in Adamawa State apprehended a notorious criminal in Gombi LGA, recovering an AK‑47 rifle, two magazines, and 28 rounds of ammunition. In Borno’s Mobbar LGA, 149 Battalion arrested two suspected terrorist logistics suppliers with cash, a Volkswagen Golf vehicle, construction materials, and household items. Both cases are under investigation.

Clearance Operations in Wulgo

Joint clearance operations by 24 Task Force Brigade and the Civilian Joint Task Force forced terrorists to abandon enclaves around Wulgo. Troops recovered a sack of illicit drugs, highlighting the pressure being mounted on insurgent supply chains.

Surrenders and Further Interceptions

Six suspected ISWAP terrorists and their families surrendered to 192 Battalion in Gwoza LGA after fleeing enclaves in the Mandara mountains. Items recovered included ₦1.54 million and mobile phones. Separately, troops at Molai checkpoint apprehended a suspected logistics supplier with large quantities of medical supplies.

In Sector 2, 233 Tank Battalion and local hunters intercepted another logistics courier in Tarmuwa LGA with motorcycle tires, further disrupting insurgent mobility.

Sustained Pressure on Terrorist Networks

The Army emphasised that these gains reflect the effectiveness of intelligence‑led missions, inter‑agency collaboration, and relentless offensive operations. Headquarters OPHK warned individuals against supplying food, fuel, construction materials, or medical items to insurgents, stressing that collaborators will be identified, apprehended, and prosecuted.

“Search and Rescue operations will continue with unwavering resolve until every abducted person is accounted for and safely reunited with their families,” said the Army.
