Brighton sign Nigerian teen sensation Zadok Yohanna on five-year deal

BRIGHTON, United Kingdom (NPA) — English Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of highly-rated Nigerian winger Zadok Yohanna from Swedish club AIK Stockholm on a five-year contract.

The club announced the deal in a statement on its official platforms, confirming that the 18-year-old forward will remain at the Amex Stadium until June 2031.

“Brighton & Hove Albion have agreed the signing of Zadok Yohanna from AIK Stockholm on a five-year contract until June 2031 for undisclosed terms,” the club said.

The move marks another major milestone in the rapid rise of the Nigerian youngster, who has emerged as one of the most promising talents in Scandinavian football.

New Post Africa reports that Yohanna reportedly attracted interest from several top Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester City and Newcastle United, before opting to join Brighton.

The Kaduna-born winger joined AIK Stockholm in 2025 from Ikon Allah Academy and quickly established himself as one of the club’s brightest prospects.

His impressive performances earned him promotion from the club’s youth setup to the senior team within two months of arriving in Sweden.

Yohanna’s rapid development has also attracted the attention of Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, with the teenager increasingly being viewed as a potential future addition to the Nigerian national team.

Speaking after completing the move, the young forward expressed delight at joining the Premier League club and reflected on his journey from grassroots football in Nigeria to England’s top flight.

“I am very happy to join this club because I know where I came from,” Yohanna said.

“I really wanted to make my family proud and I have done that.”

The transfer represents another success story for Nigerian football development, as young talents from local academies continue to secure opportunities at some of Europe’s leading clubs.
