CHILD LABOUR-
MODERN SLAVERY POLICY
Purpose:
- In upholding our editorial policy of fairness to all and a firm commitment to human rights protection, New Post Africa is deeply committed to the fight against child labour and modern slavery.
- Our editorial policy shall continue to frown against any work that “deprives children of their childhood, their potential and their dignity, and that is harmful to,” their “physical and mental development,” or “in a manner that restricts or prevents them from basic education and development.”
- We believe and stand against another person controlling someone “for profit by exploiting a vulnerability” or “forcing them to work or sexually exploit them,” as well as human trafficking, sex trafficking, child sex trafficking, forced labour, bonded labour or debt bondage, domestic servitude, forced child labour, unlawful recruitment, and the use of child soldiers.
Policy Goals and Objectives:
- We shall always give stories and campaigns against child labour and modern slavery policy a priority in our reports.
- We shall dutifully ensure that our third-party organisations are free from the exploitation of children in their operations and that they uphold the highest standards of human rights.
- We shall comply with all applicable laws and regulations in every country where we operate relating to child labour and modern slavery.
- We support the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the International Labour Organisation’s conventions on child labour.
- We shall regularly provide training to our employees to recognise and robustly report child labour and modern slavery to expose such crimes and draw the attention of the relevant authorities.
Review:
We will review this policy annually to ensure its effectiveness and relevance.
