JUST IN: Sowore attends RCCG National Thanksgiving service, receives prayers from Adeboye

LAGOS (NPA) — African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore on Sunday attended the National Thanksgiving service of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Ebute Metta, Lagos, where the church’s General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, prayed for him.
Sowore, an activist and politician and advocate of the Take It Back Movement, attended the service alongside the National Chairman of the AAC, Pastor Samuel Ajeigbe.
In a statement he personally issued on Sunday, Sowore said he attended the service following an invitation from the church.
“Today, on invitation to its National Thanksgiving service, I attended a church service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Ebute Metta, Lagos, alongside the National Chairman of our party, the African Action Congress, Pastor Samuel Ajeigbe,” he said.
Sowore said he later had a private meeting with Adeboye, who offered to pray for him.
“He stated that he follows my activities religiously, expressed certainty that my path is honorable, and said he is confident of my triumph,” Sowore quoted Adeboye as saying.
Sowore said the meeting marked his second encounter with Adeboye at the same venue, recalling that they first met in 1996 shortly after he completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
He said the first meeting occurred while he was mobilising against campus cultism and the activities of cult groups.
“Thirty years later, we met again at the same place. I deeply appreciate the warm reception of members of the church, and our private conversation, and his prayers,” Sowore said.
The AAC presidential candidate clarified that his attendance at the service was not intended to promote a political agenda.
“It is important to state that my visit was not intended to promote a political agenda,” he said.
