US Mission Nigeria celebrates exchange programme alumni, highlights stronger bilateral ties

LAGOS, Nigeria (NPA) — The U.S. Mission Nigeria has celebrated the achievements of Nigerian alumni of U.S. government exchange programmes, highlighting their contributions across various sectors.

The Mission said Consul General Brandon Hudspeth spoke with alumni leaders at the Annual Alumni Leaders Networking Brunch, where their achievements and the enduring impact of U.S. government exchange programmes were celebrated.

According to a statement by the U.S. Mission Nigeria, more than 14,000 Nigerian alumni of U.S. government exchange programmes are applying the skills, ideas and connections gained through their engagement with the United States in areas including business, leadership, governance, health, education, media and the creative industries.

“As we commemorate #Freedom250, we celebrate American excellence, and the people around the world who have experienced it firsthand and are using those experiences to create new opportunities,” the Mission said.

The Mission said its #Freedom250 commemoration marked the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence, observed on July 4, 2026, while highlighting the longstanding partnership between the United States and Nigeria in areas including trade, security, culture and people-to-people ties.

“From entrepreneurship to innovation and professional leadership, our #ExchangeAlumni demonstrate the enduring value of U.S. engagement and the potential for stronger U.S.-Nigeria collaboration,” it said.
