Police disowns viral notice directing recruits to report for training September 18

ABUJA, Nigeria (NPA) — The Nigeria Police Force has disowned a publication circulating on social media directing prospective Police Constable recruits to report for training on September 18, 2026.

The Force, in a disclaimer issued on Thursday, described the publication as fake and said it was not an official communication of the Nigeria Police Force.

It urged prospective trainees to disregard the notice and rely solely on information communicated through their respective recruitment portals and the official communication channels of the Force.

The statement reads in part:

“DISCLAIMER: The Nigeria Police Force has observed a publication circulating on social media purportedly emanating from the Force, directing prospective Police Constable recruits to report for training on 18th September 2026.

“The Nigeria Police Force wishes to state that the said publication is not an official communication of the Force and should be disregarded.

“All prospective trainees are advised to rely solely on information communicated through their respective recruitment portals and the official communication channels of the Nigeria Police Force for verified and authentic updates regarding the recruitment and training exercise.

“Members of the public are equally urged to refrain from circulating unverified information capable of causing confusion or misleading prospective recruits.”

The disclaimer had also been reposted on the social media handles of several state police commands as of the time of filing this report.

The Force advised prospective recruits and members of the public to verify recruitment-related information through official channels before acting on or sharing such notices.
